So you’ve been checking out the local emo scene, and think your ready to take over the local scene. Don’t worry, your not alone.

And your never going to do it without the 10 must haves for the up and coming scene kid:

1. Directions to the nearest thrift stores

Fuck abercrombie, fuck pac sun. Your going to a thrift store to get almost everything you wear from now on. That is, if you really want to be scene.

2. Snake Bites

Snake bites are sick! They look awesome and are totally scene. If after seeing this, you have the sudden urge to go outside and get bit by a snake, your not ready to take over the scene.

3. Skinny Jeans

You want to call yourself scene? I hope you have at very least one good pair of skinny jeans. Dickeys work. OR you can learn how to make your own skinny jeans.

4. PETA Membership

Scene much? Well let’s see your PETA membership card. Why do you need one? Uh. Cruelty to animals is sad. It’s mean. Damn. You’ll either join PETA or straight up go vegan. Or if your really scene, say screw the animals, they don’t know what suffering is until they spend a day in your shoes. Right?

5. Flair

Okay. I have to admit, I’m watching Office Space right now. (If you have never seen it, go watch it now!) If you want to be scene, you need “flair”. Bracelets, buttons, studded belts, scarfs, all that stuff. You can get some idea’s on Emo Bucket’s galleries, so I won’t bother mentioning all the cool accessories you could go buy.

6. Icons

What would the world, or any myspace profile, be without emo icons. Your right. It would suck. Every up coming scene kid needs some emo icons to plaster on their profiles, as their avatars, in their sigs, anywhere and everywhere.

7. The (5) Things Every Scene Kids Need

Ohh… What are the 5 things ever scene kid needs? I guess you missed our previous post. You need to go read it… now.. Come on, It’s Right Here.

8. (8) Really Emo Games

I can’t think of a better way to waste my free time than playing some really emo games. Wondering what 8 of the most emo games might be? Check them out.

9. Tattoos

Expressing yourself has never been easier. Just save $100, find a reputable tattoo shop in your area, and set up an appointment for an hour of self harm. It’s like cutting yourself thousands of times in one sitting.

10. A Digital Camera

Myspace mirror shots. Showing the world how scene you are. You need a digital camera. Old school looking cameras are best for mirror shots, or extremely new trendy cams. Whichever. If you don’t own a digital camera, and won’t own one for awhile, you need to make some digital-camera-having-friends with the quickness.

What are the 5 things every emo scene kid needs and should not be able to live without? (excluding an emobucket account of course)

1.) Vinyl Records
How can you call yourself emo and not own at very least 1 vinyl record? Listening to 80’s and 90’s emo, or any old school vinyls is totally scene. Their usually cheaper than cd’s, and you can be guaranteed that most of your friends can’t say they spent last night listening to Falling Forward - Hand me Down, on vinyl… I can hear it now - “that kid is so scene, he has like fity vinyls”

2.) 3000 friends on a social networking site
Whether it is Myspace, hi5, friendster, or emobucket, every true scene kid needs a high friend count. It doesn’t matter if 500 of your friends are bands you have never listened to, or cute girls you’ve never talked to, all that matters is that you have more friends than anyone you know. Duh.

3.) Flair
Okay, I have to admit I’m sitting here watching “Office Space”. If you have seen this movie, you know what I’m talking about.

Anyways, every scene kid needs some flair. Pins on your backpack, stickers, bracelets, scarves, tattoos, piercings, whatever you like. Flair is scene, and if you want to be a true scene kid, you better have some awesome flair. I could say accessories, but flair just sounds so much better. If you’ve never seen office space, and you have worked in an office, go watch it now.. Mmm kay..

4.) Ipod
Music on the go. The white head phones. It’s a commodity if your 50, but if your scene, it’s a necessity.

5.) A Shoulder to cry on
Every emo/scene kid needs a should to cry on from time to time (or more than not). Do an emo kid a favor today and let them cry on your shoulder.

Don’t have a shoulder to cry on? Get a blog. Tell the world about your new CD, haircut, or why your life sucks today as it did yesterday and will tomorrow. Whatever you do with it, it’s emo to pour your heart out over a keyboard. Though, posting on the forums or a blog just doesn’t do it like the real thing (crying on a shoulder).

8.) Original 8 bit Nintendo Games (NES)
Ah.. The old school games. I know like 10 people with the NES consoles, and I personally have an Atari (so awesome). Playing any other new console is just lame. Don’t conform and pay $60 for a game when you can get games for $2.

Some games to check out: Mario, Legend of Zelda, Bomber Man, Duck Hunt.. There are hundreds of original games worth checking out, and quite a few that are total crap.

Wait.. you don’t actually need the console to play old school nintendo games: Online 8 Bit NES Games (play them online, though it’s no where near as fun and hardly emo) For the older people reading this, check out the list of all 810 NES games for some good memories.

7.) Halo Trilogy (Master Chief)
Locked in a fight with the “world consuming” Covenant, Master Chief is left alone on an Earth like planet fighting to save the human race.

Let’s face it, Master Chief was incredibly emo. To the left, you can see what the Master Chief REALLY looks like with out his helmet on.

You would be emo, too, if you were left to fight the covenant all by yourself. You also can’t deny how insanely addicting Halo 2 and Halo 3 are

6.) Guitar Hero / Rock Band
How could I talk about the games of a music genres culture without mentioning Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Screw playing real instruments when you can form a band and perform alone from the comfort of your own room. I honestly love Rock Band right now. It’s a little lame, but it’s seriously one of the most fun new games I have gotten my hands on this year.

5.) Solitaire
Every computer has it. It’s boring. It’s lame. It’s addicting. It’s actually emo.

4.) Forum Games
Playing forum games is incredibly emo. From one liners, to interactive stories and RPG’s (see Gaia Online). It’s easy, simple, and you don’t have to know how to do anything but type.

3.) Kick the Can
Gaming on a budget? Want everyone to know how scene you are? Go outside and try a good ol’ game of kick the can! The game is simple, and to anyone passing by you will look extremely depressed, desperate, and endlessly bored.

The rules are simple: Kick a Can.

2.) The Sims 2
Have you ever found yourself sitting in your room, using The Sims to build a new world, one that isn’t so cruel, where your parents can’t control you, a place where everyone understands you, a happy place? Your so scene.

The Sims provide an escape to a different world. The Sims is also crack. If you start playing it, you will be stuck there forever. It’s comparable to the addictiveness of World of Warcraft. I don’t play World of Warcraft, but from what I have seen they are both games that you should avoid like the plague, unless you want to waste a whole, whole lot of your free time. I’m warning you. Touch either of these games, and you will never ever have free time again.
